About Ronnie

Ronnie Wade was born in Wetzel County, West Virginia. Even though his family moved away for his father’s work, Wetzel County was always home. He spent his summers here with his grandparents, learning the value of family, hard work, and looking out for your neighbors.
Ronnie served 22 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He started out as a nuclear welder, doing critical repair work on nuclear submarines where safety, attention to detail, and doing the job right mattered every single day.
Later in his career, Ronnie became a Trident submarine superintendent, helping manage major maintenance projects and multi-million-dollar budgets. As the only Chief Petty Officer serving as Maintenance Coordinator for the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and its carrier task force, he was responsible for keeping the ship and task force ready to go, supervising 140 sailors and coordinating support across 22 ships. He also served as a qualified Navy welding instructor and spent three years as a lead instructor, training sailors and holding them to the highest standards.
Ronnie’s Navy service took him around the world, including Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Persian Gulf, but it also taught him the importance of teamwork, accountability, and stepping up when others are counting on you.
After retiring from the Navy, Ronnie chose to come home to Wetzel County. He and his wife of 37 years raised their family here, and he’s a proud father and grandfather. Ronnie believes our schools should be safe, run responsibly, and focused on giving students real opportunities—whether that’s college, career training, or the skilled trades.
Ronnie is running for the Wetzel County Board of Education to give back to the community that raised him and to make sure our schools stay accountable, transparent, and focused on what matters most: our kids.

“What the Navy Taught Me About Leadership” Good day, I’m Ronnie Wade, and I’m running for the Wetzel County Board of Education in District 1.This campaign is about transparency. It’s about accountability. And it’s about making sure our kids are prepared for life after school.I want to tell you a story about me.And I’m not saying this to brag—I’m saying it because it shows you how I lead. When I checked onboard an aircraft carrier,I had about 140 people working for me.And during my brief, I was told this—They had bad attitudes. They weren’t motivated. They didn’t get along. And on top of that—they had just failed their welding tests. Now that might not sound like much, but if you can’t weld on a ship—you’re not needed. So I had a real problem in front of me.And I knew I couldn’t fix it all at once. You’ve got to take things one step at a time.First thing I worked on—was the people.I started something simple. On Fridays, when we could,we had cookouts.Nothing fancy—just food, time together. At first, they didn’t like it.But over time, something changed.Because once people get to know each other—it’s hard to stay mad at each other.Attitudes started to change.Next thing—training.I worked with AirPacand got 90 days to retrain my team. Then they would come back and test us again. And the last piece—I started talking to my people. Not at them—with them.I asked their opinions.I listened.Because when people feel like they matter—they take pride in what they do.And when they feel like it’s their idea—they work harder to make it succeed.Three months later—we took that welding test again.Average score—95.We didn’t just pass—we proved ourselves. And after that, my job got easy.Because they made me look good. That’s leadership. Now here’s why that matters.Because I see the same kind of thingsin our school system. Not one big problem—but a lot of smaller ones.Morale.Communication.Support.Accountability.And the answer isn’t one big fix. It’s leadership. It’s putting the right peoplein the right places. It’s listening to teachers—because they’re on the front lines. It’s building a teamthat wants to succeed. And I’ll say this—Once you build the right team, and give them what they need—they’ll do the work. And they’ll make the system better. Our goal shouldn’t just be graduation — it should be preparation. If we want better results, we need better leadership and real accountability. And every decision we make should be about helping our kids succeed. That’s transparency. That’s accountability. That’s doing the work that matters.I’m Ronnie Wade, District 1—and I’d appreciate your vote. ... “Why I’m Running” Good day, I’m Ronnie Wade, and I’m running for the Wetzel County Board of Education in District 1.This campaign is about transparency. It’s about accountability. And it’s about making sure our kids are prepared for life after school. The reason I got into this is simple. It started with my grandchildren.I didn’t feel like they were where they should bein reading and math.So I started looking into it.I started digging into the numbers, the programs, what we’re doing as a county—And what I found was this:We’re behind. Now I’ve talked about those numbers before,so I won’t go into them today. But that’s what got me started.I just wanted better opportunitiesfor my grandkids. But as I kept going—I started running into something else.I couldn’t get clear answers.Questions about finances…about spending…about where the money is going—And too often, the answers just weren’t clear. That became a problem. But I want to be clear about something—My focus isn’t just the money. My focus is education.Improving it.And people ask me all the time—how are you going to fix it?The truth is—there’s not just one problem. There are a lot of things we need to improve. But it starts with one word:Accountability. From the school boardto the superintendent—There has to be accountabilityfor the results we’re getting. We need a real plan.Look at what we’re doing wrong—fix it.Look at what we’re doing right—build on it.And we need to listen to teachers. They’re on the front lines every day.Ask them what’s working.Ask them what’s not.And give them the support they need. And I’ll be honest with you—Even if we made every right decision today…it would take years to see the full results.Because that’s how education works. But that doesn’t mean we wait.It means we start now.Our goal shouldn’t just be graduation — it should be preparation. If we’re going to move forward, we need clear answers and real accountability. And every decision we make should be about helping our kids succeed. That’s transparency. That’s accountability. That’s doing the work that matters.I’m Ronnie Wade, District 1—and I’d appreciate your vote. ... “What I Will Do If Elected” Doing the work that matters.Good afternoon,I want to take a few minutes to talk about something important—what I will do if I’m elected to the Board of Education.First, we have to take a hard look at our overall school grades.Because at the end of the day, that’s one of the clearest ways to see how our schools are doing. And if we want to improve those grades,we have to focus on the basics.Reading.Math.And making sure our students are learning at every level. That means asking some honest questions. Are we giving teachers the support they need? Are we using classroom time the right way?And are we tracking progress so we know what’s working—and what’s not?Because if something isn’t working,we need to fix it.Next is supporting our teachers.I’ve listened to what teachers are saying. Some feel pressure. Some don’t always feel supported. And sometimes new expectations come without the training to back them up.That has to change.Because when teachers are supported, students succeed. We also need to strengthen our vocational programs. Not every student is going to college—and that’s okay.We should be giving students the chanceto learn real skills, earn certifications, and walk out of school ready to go to work. And finally, we need transparency and accountabilitywhen it comes to spending.People have questions—and they deserve clear answers.Where is the money going? What are the priorities? And how does it help our students? If I’m elected,I will ask those questions.I will do the work. And I will keep the focus where it belongs—on our kids.Because our goal shouldn’t just be graduation—it should be preparation.I’m Ronnie Wade, running for the Wetzel County Board of Education, District 1.I’m number 6 on the ballot, and I’d appreciate your support. ... Bullying in Our SchoolsGood day, I’m Ronnie Wade, and I’m running for the Wetzel County Board of Education in District 1.I’d appreciate your support — please like, share, and follow. And remember, I’m last on the ballot. You can vote for up to three candidates…but you don’t have to use all three votes.________________________________________I want to talk about something serious today — bullying in our schools.I had a parent reach out to me about a situation involving their child being bullied. And I want to be clear right up front— I am not on the school board. I have no authority. I have no power. The only thing I have right now is this Facebook page…and a voice. But when a parent feels like they are not being heard, they are going to reach out to anyone who will listen. And that is what happened here. Now I understand — the school system has a process. They have to investigate. They have to figure out what happened, who did what, and get the full story.I respect that. And like anything— there are probably two sides to every story. The school will have their side. They have rules and procedures they have to follow. But as a parent— you want answers now.Any parent would want answers right nowif something happened to their child. They do not want to wait. And the school may be doing everything right on paper—except one thing… communication.Right now, this parent has reached out multiple times—calls, messages, emails—and they are not getting anything back. And that is a problem.Because to that parent— their child is the most important thing in the world. This could have been handled better—with simple communication. Return the phone calls. Answer the messages. Keep the parent in the loop.If that had happened, they would not be reaching out to me trying to get help. And I will say this from my own experience— from my time in the military, everything will fail without proper communication.Communication is the key.If you do not have that—things break down fast. Now let me say this too—Bullying should never be tolerated.Does it happen? Yes.Kids are kids. They are learning. They are learning how to act, how to treat people, how to grow. And I am not here to crucify any child. But at the same time— actions have consequences.Kids need to learn that early. They need to understand there are lines you do not cross. And when those lines are crossed—there has to be accountability. That is how they learn. That is how they grow. That is how we make our schools better. And just as important as discipline—is communication.Because when parents feel ignored, that is when trust breaks down. And once trust is gone—it is hard to get back.________________________________________I am going to say this plain and simple— Our goal should not just be graduation — it should be preparation.Preparation for life.Preparation to treat people right.Preparation to stand up for what is right. And that starts with how we handle situations like this.________________________________________I’m Ronnie Wade, and I’m asking for your support. Please like, share, and follow. And if you want me to come talk to your group, your community, or sit down one-on-one — I will.We may not agree on everything—but we can at least have the conversation. And I will keep doing the work that matters. ...
